• What is your name, where you live and where you are from?

I am Rosette Adera , and I live in Robbinsville
 
 

• NJ What type of volunteer are you?

Duties/Responsibilities ESL Evening Program Coordinator – planning and teaching evening class, coordinating and supervising volunteers, assisting with curriculum design.

• How long have you been a volunteer with El Centro? Since Nov 2013
• What made you want to volunteer at El Centro? El Centro’s mission to assist refugees and new citizens with life skills and social services.
• What was your first impression of the organization? El Centro offers much needed assistance to a community that needs all the assistance they can get. The sacrifice and professionalism of the staff and volunteers is inspiring. The dedication is evident.
• What do you find most challenging about volunteering here? So far so good.
• Can you tell me about some of the people you have met while volunteering.The students – a great sense of humor and real appreciation for the services they access to at El Centro. It also continues to be a pleasure to work with the volunteers, including the instructors and the high school classroom assistants. It is an inspiration to work  Silvia, our Executive Director.
• What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering? Come join the team. We love what we do and the rewards are real lives changed for the better. You will be inspired by the students and by the staff.
• If you were not volunteering at El Centro, what would you be doing instead? Volunteering at a place like El Centro.
• What do you do when you are not volunteering? I am a teacher by day and a mom/wife by night. I also have a couple of hobbies including tending my barnyard chickens!

Rosette, a former refugee, will be attending 2014 World Refugee Day Celebration this month. This annual event is one of the most important times of the year for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service  LIRS to speak with members of Congress about refugee issues.

• ¿Qué tipo de voluntariado es usted? Atribuciones / Responsabilidades Coordinador del Programa de la tarde ESL – la planificación y la enseñanza de clases de noche, coordinación y supervisión de voluntarios, ayudando con el diseño curricular.
• ¿Cuánto tiempo ha sido un voluntario de El Centro? Desde nov 2013
• ¿Qué hizo usted desea ser voluntario en El Centro? La misión de El Centro a ayudar a los refugiados y los nuevos ciudadanos con habilidades para la vida y los servicios sociales.
• ¿Cuál fue su primera impresión de la organización? El Centro ofrece toda la ayuda necesaria a una comunidad que necesita toda la ayuda que puedan conseguir. El sacrificio y la profesionalidad del personal y los voluntarios es inspirador. La dedicación es evidente.
• ¿Qué encuentras más difícil sobre el voluntariado en esta lista? Hasta aquí todo bien.   ¿Me puede decir acerca de algunas de las personas que has conocido mientras trabajaba como voluntaria? Los estudiantes – un gran sentido del humor y una apreciación real de los servicios a los que acceden a en El Centro. También sigue siendo un placer trabajar con los voluntarios, incluidos los instructores y los ayudantes de clase de la escuela secundaria. Es una fuente de inspiración para trabajar con Silvia, Directora Executiva.
• ¿Qué le dirías a alguien que esté pensando en ser voluntario? Ven y únete al equipo. Nos encanta lo que hacemos y las recompensas son verdaderas vidas cambiaron para mejor. Usted será inspirado por los estudiantes y por el personal. ¿
• Si no fuerade voluntario en El Centro,  qué estarías haciendo en su lugar? Ser voluntario en un lugar como El Centro.
• ¿Qué haces cuando no es voluntario? Soy un profesor de día y una madre / esposa por la noche. También tengo un par de pasatiempos incluyendo tendiendo mis pollos de corral!
• Rosette,  una antigua refugiada, estará presente en 2014 Celebración del Día Mundial del Refugiado de este mes. Este evento anual es uno de los momentos más importantes del año para Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service  LIRS  para hablar con miembros del Congreso sobre temas de refugiados.
